Personal Profile

Tian joined the Department of Translation Studies in July, 2018. She obtained her doctorate in Chinese Studies on the reception of “the tragic” in modern Chinese literary discourse. The research experiences of Tian range from literary studies to cultural studies. She is especially interested in the discourse analysis of the interplay among different critical trends during the formation of certain literary traditions, and also in the study of the literary expression of identity issues in transcultural context.

Dr. Gu Tian joined the Department of Translation Studies in July, 2018. 

Education

Dr. Gu obtained her doctorate in Chinese Studies from The University of Edinburgh in 2017. After finishing her first Master degree in English Language and Literature at Beijing Language and Culture University, she was enrolled to the postgraduate program of Cultural and Creative Industries at King’s College London, UK. 

Achievement

The research experience of Dr. Gu range from literary studies to cultural studies. The conference talks and publications cover the academic disciplines of Chinese Studies, Comparative Literature, and Cultural Studies. She is especially interested in the discourse analysis of the interplay among different critical trends during the formation of certain literary traditions, and also in the study of the literary expression of identity issues in transcultural context.
